BLOOMSDAY WORLDWIDE RUNS APRIL 30TH TO MAY 9TH

READY, SET . . . BLOOM!

Spokane, WA —Bloomsday kicks off on Friday, April 30th

This year marks the 45th Running of Bloomsday. 21,000 participants are signed up for the virtual race dubbed “Bloomsday Worldwide.”  Entrants from all 50 states will be running, along with runners from 20 countries including the UK, Ireland, Switzerland, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, and Japan.  True to its name, Bloomsday Worldwide will be run in some far away places and distant lands.

The only way to receive the super-secret, official finisher shirt for Bloomsday is to 1) sign up for the race, 2) run or walk a 7.5 mile course of your choosing between the dates April 30th and May 9th, and 3) submit your time to Bloomsday through the online results portal at www.bloomsdayrun.org

Online registration remains open now through May 9th on the Bloomsday website.

Even with the race being virtual, Bloomsday traditions continue.  Bloomsday fans can expect to see the decorating of the runner statues in Riverfront Park, the display of the I-90 GO BLOOMIES sign, and colorful race bibs adorning the chests of runners and walkers.  Best of all, participants can also complete their Bloomsday on the first Sunday in May.

And if you listen ever so carefully – you might just hear the Rocky theme song during Bloomsday Week!

80 Bloomsday Perennials are set to run Bloomsday this year.  The Perennials have run every single Bloomsday since the first in 1977.

Bloomsdog was also a surprise hit for this year’s race.  We heard from many participants last year that their pups were also deserving of race swag for having completed the 12km run or walk with them.  Bloomsdog is a race kit that was available for purchase and included a medal, race bib, and post-race dog treat.  More than 450 dogs are signed up for Bloomsday this year – – a first in Bloomsday history.

The official charity of this year’s race is Ronald McDonald House of the Inland Northwest.  $20,000 in donations have been received so far from Bloomsday entrants to support this incredible charity.
