Spokane, Wash. — Providence – Kaiser Permanente Bloomsday Training Clinics begin March 17 at the Spokane Community College Gymnasium, located at 1810 N. Greene Street. The seven-week program is offered consecutive Saturday mornings through April 28. The training program is free and open to the public.

The Bloomsday Training Clinics are designed to help individuals prepare for Bloomsday with a medically-sound, gradual conditioning and training program. Anyone planning to walk, jog or run can benefit from the weekly sessions; participants gradually condition themselves to safely complete Bloomsday on May 6, or better and safely enjoy any number of activities.

Each Saturday session begins at 8:30 a.m. with expert speakers on up-to-date training topics, followed by 15 minutes of warm-up exercises. At their own pace, runners, joggers and walkers then complete one mile the first week, adding a mile each week during the program.

The training course varies from week-to-week, winding through the Spokane Community College campus, along the Spokane River and Centennial Trail. Volunteers from Providence Health Care and Kaiser Permanente attend each clinic to help provide safety for all participants, crossing guards, water stations and first aid.

Register at providence.org/Bloomsday. While walk-ins are welcome during any week, it is preferred that participants sign up in advance.

Please note: Registering for the Training Clinics does not register you for the race. Race registration forms will be available at the clinics each week, or you can register online at www.bloomsdayrun.org. Pets (other than registered service animals) are not allowed as a courtesy and for the safety of others. Bloomsday is a registered trademark of the Lilac Bloomsday Association.
