August 15, 2013—The Lilac Bloomsday Association, in cooperation with The Inlander, is now accepting designs for the 2014 finisher T-shirt. Deadline for submitting designs is Monday, September 23, 2013, and the Lilac Bloomsday Association will pay $1,000 for the design selected.
The design can have up to 6 colors (there will also be a one-color imprint of the sponsor logo on the sleeve). Artist can recommend a shirt color, although final decision on that will rest with the Lilac Bloomsday Association. The words Lilac Bloomsday Run (or Bloomsday), Spokane, Washington, 2014 (or ’14), and Finisher must be incorporated into the design. Design must be able to transfer well in the screen-printing process. To see designs and colors of past shirts, click on History/ Highlights/Stats, T-Shirt & Poster History on the Bloomsday website (bloomsdayrun.org).
Design(s) should be mailed or delivered by September 23 to Lilac Bloomsday Association, 1414 N. Belt St., Spokane, WA 99201. If delivered in person to the Bloomsday office, please call first (838-1579, ext. 11) to make sure the office will be open. Alternately, designs may be delivered to The Inlander at their new location, 1227 W. Summit Parkway, Spokane, WA99201, between 8:30 and 5:30, Monday through Friday. Please note the following:
- Designs should be no larger than 13 inches high and 11 inches wide.
- Artist’s name, postal address, email address and phone number must be on the back of each design.
- Please do not send CDs.
- We discourage artists from submitting PDFs, because all electronic submissions will be printed on an injet printer for review by the committee, and these don’t display well. We recommend submitting designs in as polished a form as possible.
- Artwork cannot be returned.
Artist of the design selected for the 2014 finisher’s shirt will be notified by mid-October. Please note that because of Bloomsday’s tradition of not revealing the T-shirt color or design ahead of time, the winner will not be able to reveal that his/her design has been selected until the first person crosses the finish line on May 4, 2014. Failure to observe this provision will result in forfeiture of all money paid to the artist by the Bloomsday Association. Artist also agrees to work with the Bloomsday Race Director and the screen-printer chosen by the Lilac Bloomsday Association in making sure the design is in a final form acceptable to Bloomsday and ready for high quality screen-printing. Artist also agrees to provide artwork that can be used by the company that produces specially minted medallions that are awarded to top finishers in each age division.
Questions regarding this process can be directed to Race Director Don Kardong, donkardong@bloomsdayrun.org, phone (509) 838-1579, ext. 11.
