Spokane, WA—Competition on the streets of Spokane among teams in the Bloomsday Corporate Cup may still be weeks away, but a few teams have already humored their way to the front of the pack. A group of Bloomsday sponsors and organizers have conferred and announced this year’s finalists for the Corporate Cup “Best Team Name” contest.
Of the nearly 300 teams entered in the Corporate Cup Competition, the finalists (see below) have been whittled down to only 25. The team names range from B&B Physical Therapy’s “We’re Getting the IT Band Back Together” to Workland & Witherspoon’s “Inglourious Barristers.” The first, second, and third place names will be announced after Bloomsday in the Souvenir Results Booklet distributed by The Inlander.
“Our panel of judges really enjoyed reviewing all the entertaining names again this year,” remarked Corporate Cup Director and Bloomsday Association President Carol Hunter. “It’s too bad we can only select one winner, because there are dozens of great names.”
“Plantar Fascist” of B&B Physical Therapy won last year’s team name contest, beating out “Worst Pace Scenario” of Spokane Country and “Lumbering Along” of the Vaagen Bros. Lumber Inc., who placed second and third, respectively.
Although registration is now closed for the Corporate Cup competition, runners still have time to register for Bloomsday. Mailed entry forms for the low $15 entry fee must be postmarked by midnight, April 12th, while online entrants have until Sunday, April 17th to do so. Late entries for the $30.00 fee will be accepted online from April 18th through the 24th, and at the Bloomsday Trade Show the weekend of April 29-30. No entries will be accepted Sunday, May 1st.
