Spokane, WA — Today, Bloomsday Race Officials released the 2021 race poster. Designed by award-winning artist Steve Merryman of SIGMADOG, the poster symbolizes the celebration of Bloomsday spirit across the globe. In 2020, approximately 26,000 runners and walkers entered Virtual Bloomsday – – including participants from 20 foreign nations.
The poster can be purchased when you sign up for Bloomsday. Race entry is only $25 and includes the world-famous finisher shirt. Posters are $20 with free shipping to U.S. addresses.
To sign up for Bloomsday and purchase your poster, go to www.bloomsdayrun.org. Registration is exclusively online in 2021.
The Bloomsday poster features several abstract images of iconic landmarks from around the world, but also includes three beloved structures close to home: Spokane’s Clocktower, Pavilion and Monroe Street bridge. “With my sixteenth official Bloomsday poster design, I tried to capture the energy and fun of this worldwide event – one that everyone can do in their own neighborhood no matter where they are,” said Steve Merryman. “Taking Bloomsday worldwide is a major step, and I created an image that expresses the optimism, energy and spirit of this traditionally Spokane event that now belongs to the world.”
The 45th running of Bloomsday – – dubbed “Bloomsday Worldwide” for its surprise global popularity in 2020 – – will be run this spring as a virtual race. Bloomsday entrants can complete their 12k run or walk – from any location in the world – beginning Friday, April 30 through Sunday, May 9. The always celebrated finisher shirt will be mailed to finishers.
