Bloomsday-Hoopfest team sign-up is open!

Mar 26, 2010

Spokane, WA—Let the trash-talk begin! Entry forms for the first annual Bloomsday-Hoopfest Team Championship (BHTC) are now available for anyone willing to show off not only their endurance but also their best jump shot. Information and forms are available on the event web sites for Bloomsday (www.bloomsdayrun.org, click the Registration button) and Hoopfest (www.spokanehoopfest.net).

The competition is straightforward. A team consists of four members of the same gender, and all must be at least 18 years old. Based on the times of the four teammates at Bloomsday, the team will receive a ranking. From there the same team that ran in Bloomsday will be placed in a Hoopfest bracket competing against other BHTC teams of the same gender. The champion will be crowned based on the combined Bloomsday and Hoopfest rankings.

To enter, teams need to submit three different entry forms: Bloomsday, Hoopfest and the BHTC. Each team member will need to individually sign up for Bloomsday, then the team will submit the BHTC form and sign up for Hoopfest, listing their bracket as BHTC. BHTC teams MUST be identified prior to the Bloomsday Run date of May 2, 2010. Bloomsday and Hoopfest entry forms must be submitted prior to the designated deadlines.

“Hoopfest is thrilled to be working with Bloomsday on this team competition,” said Hoopfest Executive Director Rick Steltenpohl. “We’re looking forward to seeing multi-sport athletes compete to find the best team from the area’s signature events.”

This is the first year of the BHTC, but based on early interest the contest promises to become a yearly tradition for Spokane’s two big community athletic events.
