Bloomsday ’08 online registration is open! Early entrants may win trip to St. Patrick’s Day Dash

Jan 7, 2008

Spokane, WA—There may be snow and ice covering Spokane streets and another snowfall in the forecast, but optimists know spring isn’t far off, and neither is is the 32nd annual Lilac Bloomsday Run. To help fortify New Year’s resolutions to get in shape, early bird registration for Bloomsday is now open at www.bloomsdayrun.org. Those who sign up by February 17th will have a chance to win a trip for two to one of Seattle’s most popular races, the St. Patrick’s Day Dash on March 16, 2008.

“When we’re still experiencing winter weather it’s hard to imagine that Bloomsday is right around the corner,” said Bloomsday Race Director Don Kardong. “But spring is on the way, and it’s not too early to start thinking about signing up for Bloomsday.”

Everyone who enters Bloomsday online through February 17th will be automatically entered in the St. Patrick’s Day Dash drawing. The winner will receive roundtrip airfare for two from Spokane to Seattle, two nights (double occupancy) at the O’fficial Hotel, the Silver Cloud Inn (Stadium) right next to the finish line, two (2) pairs of Brooks Running Shoes and free entry into the run.

Officially known as Henry Weinhard’s St. Patrick’s Day Dash, the event is described as “a nearly 3-1/2 mile jaunt fromSeattle Center to Safeco Field to celebrate the arrival of spring and the Irish in us all.” Entrants are encouraged to “run, walk, jog or crawl” the distance. This is the 24th annual Dash, which drew nearly 15,000 entrants last year. Prizes are awarded for “Best Wearin’ o’ the Green” and “Most Outrageous Costume.”

Bloomsday ’08 will be Sunday, May 4, 2008. Full details of the 32nd annual event will be released in early March, at which time printed entry forms will be available at locations throughout the Inland Northwest.
