Bloomsday Charity
Now accepting applications for the 2026 Bloomsday Charity of Choice
The Lilac Bloomsday Association (LBA) designates an official charity or non-profit partner for the upcoming Lilac Bloomsday Run, offering vital support and visibility to the selected organization. Charities benefit from participant donations during Bloomsday registration, product sales, and a complimentary booth at the Bloomsday Trade Show.
To be considered, charities submit a concise letter by July 31, 2025. The charity letter should be no more than two pages long and provide the following information:
- Your organizations mission, and impact you make in the community as well as any other pertinant background information.
- How being the official Bloomsday charity would help the charity’s mission.
- Fun ways the charity would like to promote itself during Bloomsday season to increase the visibility of both the charity and Bloomsday (e.g. West Central Community Center did a Doomsday Hill challenge; Ronald McDonald House sold red and white socks; Susan G. Komen Foundation sold pink bracelets; Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery auctioned off mile sculptures; and Cancer Patient Care sold gold singlets that could be personalized in honor of a cancer patient).
Creative ideas are encouraged as it gives Bloomsday something fun to promote and likewise excites our participants to run/walk for a cause. The LBA’s Charity Committee reviews applications and presents its recommendations to the Board of Directors at the Bloomsday board retreat in September.
While unable to support all deserving charities, Bloomsday aims to provide an annual boost to one official charity, contributing to the greater community. For inquiries or submissions, contact Bethany Lueck or call (509) 838-1579 x13Â
Why does Bloomsday Support a Charity
The Bloomsday Charity of Choice stands as a beacon of community support and compassion. Each year, Bloomsday selects a noteworthy charity to be the focal point of its philanthropic endeavors, channeling the collective generosity of participants and supporters toward a meaningful cause. The Charity of Choice not only reflects Bloomsday’s commitment to fostering positive change but also serves as a rallying point for the running community to make a lasting impact beyond the racecourse.
