Every year, one design becomes part of Bloomsday history. The Bloomsday finisher shirt is worn by tens of thousands of runners and walkers and becomes a lasting reminder of race day. After celebrating 50 years of Bloomsday, we’re looking ahead to the next chapter and inviting artists to help shape what comes next. Whether your inspiration comes from Spokane, the spirit of Bloomsday, or the energy of race day, we want to see your original vision.

Submission Deadline:

Designs must be mailed or delivered by Friday, September 25, 2026, to:

Prize:

Bloomsday will pay $1,000 for the winning design plus a lifetime of bragging rights.

Design Requirements:

• Colors: Your design may include up to 4 colors.

• Text: Please include the following:

  • “Lilac Bloomsday Run” (or “Bloomsday”)

  • “Spokane, Washington”

  • “2027” (or ‘27)

  • “Finisher”

• Size: Maximum dimensions are 13 inches high x 11 inches wide.

• Identification: Be sure your name, postal address, email address, and phone number are written clearly on the back of each design.

Submission Guidelines:

Format: Please provide a hard copy of your design. Do not send thumb drives, PDFs, or other electronic files.
Return Policy: Artwork cannot be returned.
Multiple Entries: Multiple designs can be submitted and are encouraged.

Original Artwork Notice: Every Bloomsday finisher shirt tells a story and behind each design is an artist whose creativity becomes part of a tradition worn with pride by thousands of participants. As we begin the next 50 years of Bloomsday, we remain committed to celebrating original artwork created through human imagination and craftsmanship. While artificial intelligence has become a valuable tool in many creative fields, the Lilac Bloomsday Association believes the finisher shirt should continue to reflect the vision and artistry of the people behind it.

Designs created in whole or in part using generative AI are not eligible. All entries must be original works created by the submitting artist and all finalist submissions are subject to review to verify originality.

Notification:

Due to the number of submissions we receive, we are unable to notify every artist of the contest results. The selected artist will be contacted in early November and will work with Bloomsday to adapt the winning design to the official finisher shirt color. One of Bloomsday’s favorite traditions is unveiling the finisher shirt on race weekend. To preserve that surprise, the winning artist will be asked to keep both the design selection and shirt color strictly confidential until the official public reveal.
