The Lilac Bloomsday Association presents the 44th running of the Lilac Bloomsday Run.
July 29, 2020
After months of holding out hope that we would be able to hold an in-person Bloomsday on September 20, COVID-19 has clearly not abated to the point where that will be possible. However, there is a silver lining to all of this. Even though you won’t be able to enjoy the company of thousands of others coursing through the streets of Spokane, you can still run, walk or wheelchair your own Bloomsday wearing your 2020 race number (tie-dye and most certainly a collector’s piece) and earn your famed finisher t-shirt as part of the first-ever Virtual Bloomsday race.
Effective today, unless you defer your entry using the instructions below, all current Bloomsday 2020 registrants are now signed up for Virtual Bloomsday. The Virtual Bloomsday option was launched on July 2 and works like this:
As noted above, if you are not interested in earning your 2020 finisher shirt through Virtual Bloomsday, then you may defer your entry to 2021. Please see the FAQs below for details.
Registration is still open for Virtual Bloomsday and if you have not already signed up, you may register today for under $25. The entry deadline is Wednesday, August 26. Exclusive and collectible Bloomsday 2020 souvenirs are also available during online registration and will be mailed to you with your race number in late August/early September. (see registration instructions / FAQs below)
Important: If you registered for Bloomsday 2020 and wish to participate in Virtual Bloomsday to earn your 2020 finisher shirt, no action is needed—you are all set. Any souvenir merchandise that you purchased will be mailed to you along with your 2020 commemorative tie-dye race number. Existing registrants can still buy limited edition Bloomsday souvenirs, like the 2020 finisher medal, by August 8. See FAQs below to learn how.
Here are some important deadlines and actions items:
The mailing of race numbers and shirts will be the most ambitious mailing undertaken by Bloomsday race officials in race history! So that all important items are delivered to you safely and timely, you must make sure that the address you provided Bloomsday in your registration form is your MAILING address and is also CURRENT. See FAQs below to learn how to view and update your address.
Second Seed participants: For those who ordered a commemorative singlet, we will be mailing this singlet to you along with your race number. Please note that your qualifying time for Bloomsday 2020 second seeding will pre-qualify you for the same seeding in 2021.
Corporate Cup participants: We will be sending a message to all corporate cup teams this week with updates and instructions for 2020.
Mail-in entries: For those who mailed in entries to Bloomsday, your entries will also be converted to Virtual Bloomsday 2020 unless you have already deferred to 2021.
Please see our FAQs below for additional information. And please stay tuned to this page for the latest details on Virtual Bloomsday.
Thank you for your support. We look forward to receiving your results from Virtual Bloomsday and seeing all of the great photos from your 12k shared using #bloomsdayrun.

I haven’t registered for Bloomsday yet. How do I sign up for Virtual Bloomsday?
Signing up for Virtual Bloomsday is easy! Here's the link: Register for Bloomsday. Just be sure to register by the August 26 deadline.
Earlier this year I elected to defer my Bloomsday 2020 registration to 2021. Can I now switch to Virtual Bloomsday for 2020 instead?
Those who chose to defer their entry were unregistered for Bloomsday 2020 and sent a credit voucher via email for the value of their Bloomsday entry and other purchases made at the time of registration. The credit voucher may only be applied toward Bloomsday 2021 or later. Unfortunately, the credit voucher is not compatible with the 2020 registration system. If you now wish to participate in Virtual Bloomsday in 2020, please register as a new participant. If you have any questions, please contact us at email@example.com.
I would like information about the Bloomsday Training Clinic that ordinarily takes place in the spring. Will this be offered this summer?
Yes. To help prepare participants for the race, a 7-week virtual training clinic will begin in August. The clinic, provided by Providence Health Care and Kaiser Permanente, will once again provide training tips and advice from a team of experts to help Bloomies get ready for the race. You can register for the Virtual Training Clinics today.
